Andreas Beck drops out after Meniscus Rupture

VfB Stuttgart in the final sprint of the season without Beck

Andreas Beck will not be available to VfB Stuttgart in the fight for class retention. The 32-year-old will be out for weeks after an operation.

The relegated VfB Stuttgart has to manage without Andreas Beck in the final sprint of the Bundesliga season. As the Swabians announced on Tuesday, the 32-year-old suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during the match at Hertha BSC (1:3) on Saturday, which must be treated surgically.

Beck will be out for four to six weeks and will therefore not be available for the last two season games against VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 as well as possible relegation games.

“His retirement in this important phase of the season is bitter for him and for us,” said Sport Director Thomas Hitzlsperger. VfB will be able to secure a relegation spot on Saturday. He has a five-point advantage over the penultimate in the standings, 1st FC Nuremberg.
