On the occasion of the 10th summit of Caixin in Beijing, the ex-president of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet has made a few statements pessimistic about the industry of crypto-currency before, to indicate that he was firmly opposed to Bitcoin.

The crypto-currency does not comply with the conditions

Trichet joined the traditionalists of european finance when it talks about the potential of the crypto-currency as the future of the economy in a discussion. On the third day of the summit, Caixin in China, the former president had participated in a discussion highlighting the role of the digital currency and has not failed to announce its color.

“I am firmly opposed to Bitcoin and I think we’re a little complacent. The currency itself is not real, with the characteristics that a currency should have, ” says he, referring to the potential of this industry to generate more speculation.

Neither Bitcoin, nor Libra

To mark its position pessimistic with regard to the crypto-currency as a whole, Trichet puts the Bitcoin and the Libra in the same basket. Moreover, he had declared to be against the Libra for the same reasons, either his incompetence, to play the role of a real currency.
In this perspective, it aligns with the fearful thoughts of some european observers such as Bruno Le Maire, the French minister of finance, who had assimilated the crypto-currency prepared by Facebook as sovereign and private.
Note, however, that the position announced by jean-claude Trichet will only have an impact not necessarily on a case study of crypto by the ECB, which attests to its willingness to work and to have results next year.
