The study surveyed 5,000 companies administrators of information technologies in 26 countries.The results of the survey show that in 2020, 51% of businesses have been victims of the ransomware virus. The study showed that in 73% of the attacks, the hackers were successful in encrypting sensitive information. An interesting feature is the method that hackers use to charge their victims.According to the study, the average cost for the payment of the attacks is $ 732.50 for those organizations that, in the beginning do not show intentions of making the payment. But those companies that demonstrate to the hackers who have intentions of paying, can expect to pay around USD 1.448.458 for the rescue of the information, according to the survey.It should be noted that 94% of the companies that recovered the encrypted data, only 26% did so through the payment of the ransom. While 56% of companies attacked were able to recover the data via backups.
