A new metric based on the liquidity

Announced on November 12 for the inaugural conference of CoinMarketCap to Singapore, the new functionality of site analysis would allow to assess the liquidity, said Carylyne Chan head of strategy.
In depth, the new metric will be used to eliminate the manipulation of the data “volumes” on the various crypto-exchanges by means of information on liquidity.

“Today we’re introducing a new measure to highlight what matters most for investors and traders : the liquidity. Thanks to our measure of liquidity, we hope to bring a public good to the market of the crypto-currency by encouraging the provision of liquidity instead of the inflation volumes “.

Multiple features

Trying to keep the reputation of the site as the first aggregator of data on crypto-currencies, the leaders of CoinMarketCap also want a modernization of the tools of analysis to reflect the reality of the market.
In addition to the new metric of liquidity, which objective is the filtration of market manipulation, CoinMarketCap also focuses on other tools such as Simetri to check the transparency of the data in the order book of the crypto-exchanges. Launched in July, this product will be used to analyze the institutional quality of a exchange of digital assets data.
This control of transparency was also behind the launch of the tool of liquidity as indicated by Chan :

“Other solutions, such as to select only a few exchanges of trust or use of metrics that are not correlated, and non-related such as Web traffic, were not exhaustive and did not resolve the problem.”
