A solution for the trade of electricity

The electricity company indian BSES has designed a new platform for Blockchain supported by the protocol Power-Ledger (PaOW) in order to enable the trade of electricity among consumers. Thus, this initiative is aimed at residents who want to sell their surplus electricity generated from their solar panels.

“As a result, consumers who do not have solar power on the roof will benefit by buying electricity cheaper and cleaner, compared to the price of the electricity they would otherwise have to pay as consumers,” highlighted the company.

The project has its own token native baptized Sparks that would serve as the currency of exchange between the users of the platform Blockchain, to know the sellers and buyers of energy.

An initiative which is still in the trial

The platform Blockchain would be first tested in the city of Dwarka, in the State of Gujarat before its deployment at the national level.

“The pilot project will be implemented within the existing group, and selected consumers of solar energy in Dwarka, which produce approximately 5-6 MW of solar energy. These consumers will be able to share solar energy with their apartments and neighboring buildings using this platform, ” said the company.

Thanks to the solution Power Ledger, BSES aims to generate income consistent with the transaction costs that consumers will have to pay on the platform. However, the Blockchain is still pending regulatory approval, according to the officials of the company.
