Artificial intelligence can give you brain to quantum computing

On several occasions we have stated about the technology that is changing the world now, being the Artificial Intelligence. Noting particularly those derived from machine learning and their implications. In addition, we have expounded on the technology that seeks to change the future, with the power of Quantum Computing (QC for its acronym in English). What would happen if we unite?

Explanation

Using the imagination for a moment seek to unify the best of both technologies. On the part of the AI, a platform that is able to learn and improve with each event that it performs, allowing it to evolve constantly. While with QC an algorithm that allows to perform calculations millions of times faster than a traditional computer using the same resources. The combination of both could create a brain that performs the same functions as that one human, or at least simulate doing so.

Reality

Rigetti, a new company of QCs, recently announced that its researchers created a method for the QCs to run a clustering algorithm (a way for the AI to separate the data into groups). There are a number of companies, including IBM and Google, using AI in the development of quantum systems, but this is one of the first times that the machine learning quantum has been tested with success. Quantum computers some day replace the classic binary that we use right now, this is almost a certainty. But currently are not practical for anything other than research. Not only require adaptations to be ridiculous, such as an environment temperature almost perfect, but they are also slow in comparison with modern supercomputers. Scientists from companies such as Rigetti, that focus on quantum computing, are still in the research phase of “intermittent”. Have hardware for which no one has developed before, which is able to do things that we haven’t been able to try previously. Every step takes the field further into unknown territory. Once quantum computers exceed the capabilities of supercomputers, a feat that has almost been achieved, we will need methods to create instructions and understand the vast amount of data they produce. The artificial intelligence is perfect for this and, according to experts, is the next logical step.

Impact

The QCs and the AI also share another trait: the exponential growth. The processors for devices quantum is measured in qubits, with the most advanced of today in around 50 qubits. In this size are equivalent to a supercomputer. With only 60 qubits, would exceed the power of every supercomputer on the planet combined. The AI autorreplicante, as the AutoML of Google, they could, in theory, scale with the advances of hardware to create algorithms much more complex than any human being, to harness the power of quantum computing. The work that is being carried out in Rigetti may still not be the equivalent quantum of AutoML, but if we are ever going to have a system of 100 or 1,000 qubits that will run a neural network quantum, it is based on something as basic as the clustering algorithm of Rigetti. When the Matrix becomes a reality, probably will run in the quantum algorithms of machine learning. The following two tabs change content below.
