Key facts:

Greenb2e, a company from Valencia, Spain, has spent three years working on this project eco-friendly.The system generates a token for each tonne of CO2 that is not released to the atmosphere. In Spain the companies can market their surplus energy and the reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide, CO2, using a platform blockchain. The valencian company, Greenb2e, is carrying out a project that allows you to tokenize the use of renewable energies to promote eco-friendly practices at the enterprise level.Greenb2e leads an initiative that seeks to substitute the use of energy non-renewable, such as those based on oil, coal or diesel, by electrical sources which are more favourable to the environment. The valencian company has devised a system that allows you to monetize the CO2 that is not sent to the atmosphere. Also, it calculates and tokeniza the excess energy of the day to day activities, business to be able to be sold to a third party. The signature Greenb2e has been working on this project since three years ago, forming part of the accelerator Innsomnia of Bankia Fintech. In this way, the initiative developed a system based on blockchain that allows you to calculate and certify excess energy of each company. They also use the platform Stockmind of Bankia to tokenize the savings in CO2, electricity, drinking water or any energy resource. All token or “green certificate” of the enterprise may subsequently be presented in a market of surplus energy. Buyers can acquire these tokens to offset their Co2 emissions while supporting a company with practices friendly to the environment. While the company that presents these tokens can generate economic gains from their environmental activities.

Case of successful use

Greenb2e made a couple of months ago a proof-of-concept of its initiative in a vineyard located in the municipality of Argamasilla de Alba, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. The company replaced the pumps of diesel, used for extraction of water from the irrigation system, by 54 solar panels. Then we performed a calculation of the CO2 left to be issued by the irrigation system, generating a token for each tonne of carbon dioxide avoided. The project aroused the interest of the World Bank (WB), the authority that invited Bankia to be part of the Group Council to the Article 6 of the Agreement of Paris recently. The group, formed by authorities and multinational companies, is focused mainly on the markets in climate and in carbon emissions. Due to this recognition, Greenb2e was presented this week in Madrid for the Climate Summit-2019 with the objective of exposing its reach to the rest of the members of the Council. As a company specialized in energy solutions, the representatives of Greenb2e have confirmed that they are working on other projects. For example, the port of Valencia will incorporate a similar system to calculate their surplus electrical kilowatt hour. Not only does the system become such a surplus to sell on the electronic market, but also will allow the port to share their power with users of other port facilities nearby.Greenb2e aims to continue working this same project to the needs of other industries, such as educational centers or ports. Also, they noted that the initiative will continue to focus on photovoltaic systems, wind farms, the isolated plants, the solar pumping and the consumption.
