The so-called Elliot Gunton and Anthony Tyler Nashatka have been accused by the prosecutor’s office of the California of the North of hacking the crypto-platform Ether Delta in December 2017.
Apparently, the suspects have gained access to the e-mail of an employee of the group in order to change the settings of the system, including the domain names. They have redirected the traffic to a fake Web site, which is a replica of the real platform.
The criminals have got their hands on the private keys, the addresses of crypto-currencies as well as the wallets of the visitors.
Although no information has been disclosed on the exact amount of lost funds, it is estimated that the two characters have managed to squeeze no less than 800 000 dollars in crypto-currency to a client of Ether Delta.

The crypto-hacks strung together

While this case goes back a long time, it is important to note that piracy is an evil that has infected the industry of crypto-currencies.
During the first half of this year, the cyber criminals would have already stolen nearly $ 5 billion of digital assets to the investors and the crypto-exchanges, according to data from the CipherTrace, the startup scan Blockchain.
The Un would have also revealed in its report that hackers from north korea were able to divert $ 2 billion, almost half of the total volume of the stolen funds.
